                  Instrument Program Distribution Set
                           Version 2.24

The Instrument Program software is supplied either on 5.25" ( 1.2Mb)
floppies or on 3.5" (720 kb) floppies.

To install the Instrument Program, insert Disk 1 into any drive
(e.g. A) and type the following at the DOS command prompt:

    <drivename>:INSTALL
For example, if Disk 1 is in drive A type:
    A:INSTALL

The program then asks you what drive to install the software from and
to, and what communication port you will be using.

If you are updating from a previous version of the Instrument Program,
we suggest you copy any old files you want to preserve out of the IP
directory, and delete the contents of the IP directory before continuing
with the installation. IP version 2.x uses a file format different from
that of IP version 1.8x. Convert your IP 1.8x files to the new format
by running the supplied CONVK1B.EXE program:

> CONVK1B filespec [+]
where
  filespec: any file, wildcards allowed
+ : optional, no prompting if specified

NOTE : a subdirectory REF will be created in the
directory you are converting, and will contain
all of your old data files.

On each of the distribution disks there is a dummy file used to identify
the disk. You don't need to copy these files (named IP1.ID, etc.) to
the hard disk.

Please read the file "ver222.txt" for the latest changes that didn't
make it to the manual.

The programs are distributed in archived form.
